Bahrain-Large business registration deadline

Following confirmation of the implementation of VAT in Bahrain, the National Bureau of Taxation have announced a staggered approach to registration, with the first registration deadline of 20 December 2018 being set.

By this date, businesses whose annual taxable turnover in Bahrain exceeds BD 5m must be registered in preparation for 1 January 2019.

Businesses whose turnover exceeds BD 500,000 must register by June 20 2019, and all businesses exceeding the mandatory threshold of BD 37,500 required to register by 20 December 2019.

Of course, if a business exceeds the voluntary threshold of BD 18,750, voluntary registration can be obtained, and this will allow VAT recovery.

Non-established businesses with a zero threshold must register for VAT in Bahrain from the first taxable sale.
