Egyptian VAT rate set at 13%

Earlier this week, the Egyptian government approved the introduction of VAT legislation in the country, and confirmed that the standard rate will be 13% for the fiscal year 2016-17. In 2017-18, this will rise to 14%.

Numerous exemptions are included within the legislation, but businesses entering into transactions in Egypt should ensure they are aware of any VAT obligations arising.
