Malaysia-GST 'scrapped' from 1 June 2018

Following on from his pledge to voters in the recent Malaysian elections, Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad has announced that GST will be reduced to 0% from the current 6% rate in force, effectively removing the tax. Supplies currently exempt from GST will retain this treatment.

Businesses undertaking activities in the country should be aware that the reduction comes into force on 1 June 2018, and no Malaysian GST should be charged or incurred from this time.
